In the United States, corporate energy procurement decisions have been a key factor in promoting the growth of renewable energy. A series of companies including technology, retail, real estate and logistics have been signing procurement contracts for wind and photovoltaic power. Wood McKenz research data show that corporate procurement is increasingly important to the overall growth of renewable energy in the United States.
According to Wood McKenz data, corporate PV power procurement accounts for 18% of the PV installed capacity of all utilities in the United States. The purchase volume of meta alone accounts for about 4% of the PV installation volume of the US utility scale.
There are two main reasons for enterprises to purchase photovoltaic power:
1. PV cost reduction
2. Objectives of enterprises in terms of carbon emissions and other environmental indicators
The Inflation Reduction Act signed in August last year has greatly promoted the prospects of PV investment in the United States. Wood McKenz predicted that in the next five years, the expanded and extended tax credits in the bill will increase the installed capacity of commercial photovoltaic projects absorbed locally by 24%
